We are born with two fears - a fear of loud noises and a fear of falling. The rest of the vast arrays of fears we have, rational or irrational, are learnt along the way. However, some fears are not irrational. We need a certain amount of fear to protect us from dangerous situations. There are many different types of phobias, including agoraphobia, claustrophobia, acrophobia, mysophobia, xenophbia, necrophobia, brontophobia, carcinophobia, aviophobia, arachnophobia and sociophobia.
